Bjarnason Scholarship

Requirements

  1. Applicants must have a declared Scandinavian Studies minor or be in a major that allows for a Scandinavian focus in your work.
  2. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  3. Applicants must complete the entire application procedure by April 15, 2009.

Procedure

  1. Download the Bjarnason Scholarship application
  2. Fill out all Personal Information (page 3).
  3. Attach a short biographical sketch that mentions your interest in Scandinavian Studies, how it has
    played into the work you've already done as a student, areas you plan to explore in the future, and how
    you see your interest in Scandinavian Studies as fitting into your overall academic plans. Limit your response to 250 words or less (page 4).
  4. Fill out a graduation plan and have it approved in the Humanities Advisement Center (If you have a major in the College of Humanities).
    The form is available at the Humanities Advisement Center, 1175 JFSB.
  5. Provide two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member who knows you well and can provide an academic reference. Letters must be in a sealed envelope and attached to this application. *These letters of recommendations are not required for eligibility but are highly suggested
  6. Turn in your completed application form by April 15, 2009.
    You must have the Check List completed and stapled on top of your entire application, or it will not be accepted at the Advisement Center (page 2).

Print the completed application form and turn it into the Humanities Advisement Center.
