Freshman Seminars are offered every fall to entering freshman, and since youâare a first-semester freshman only once, take advantage of these unique courses while you can. You will have the rare opportunity to participate in small classes where you will get to know a professor personally, challenge your mind with ideas not necessarily within your discipline, learn the keys to maximum performance in college and beyond, enlighten your creativity, and be educated for eternity.
The courses offer you a variety of topics to choose from, so take the one that is most interesting to you. But don't wait too long to enroll--the classes are small and they fill up fast.
Freshman Seminar is an opportunity you won't want to pass up. Click here to see the course titles and descriptions for this fall.
Freshman Orientation is held the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before the beginning of Fall Semester. Contact New Student Orientation for dates and further information.
The College of Humanities Oriention for Fall is the Friday before classes begin. Contact the Advisement Center for date and times.
The First-year Experience Peer Mentor Program began in Fall 2006 to help new entering BYU students integrate into the academic, social, and spiritual culture of Brigham Young University. First time BYU students, including freshman and transfer students, who participate in the program meet and interact in small groups (30 to 40 students) throughout their first semester at BYU. The peer mentor assigned to each group organizes discussion sessions, presentations, and activities that are designed to anticipate the needs of the students in their community and help make their first semester transition easy and successful. Visit this link for more information about Peer Mentoring.
Freshman Academy is a one semester/term program designed to assist students in making the transition from high school to college. To apply or find out more about the program, contact Freshman Academy
