| Our children attend Maori language immersion pre-schools and schools in our local community. They use Maori all the time in these environments, and are quite capable in the language. However, it is very difficult to get them to speak maori at home because of the overwhelming dominance of English in New Zealand. We are trying, however. Hopefully, the kids will absorb a sufficient amount of Maori and when they become parents they will come to use Maori as their first language with their children. We are very interested to hear more information and to share ideas. |
