Contains a survey of bilingual parents and their experiences.

Include details of Saunders' own experiences teaching his children his non-native German. Extremely helpful information and many linguistic insights. Very valuable for bilingual parents attempting to teach their children a language native to neither parent and a language not dominant in the community.
Tosi, Arturo. Immigration and Bilingual Education: A case study of movement of population, language change and education within the EEC. Pergamon Press: New York, 1984.
Discusses issues of immigrant bilingualism, especially implications for education. Includes a detailed case study of Italian immigrants in Bedford, England as well as highlighting other immigrant language studies. The principles discussed throughout, although applied to immigrant bilinguals, do have implications for anyone seeking to initiate bilingualism at home. Especially helpful are chapter four, "Mother tongue learning processes and teaching approaches" and chapter five, "The maintenance of the mother tongue and culture."
