bilingualism, especially implications for education. Includes a detailed
case study of Italian immigrants in Bedford, England as well as highlighting
other immigrant language studies. The principles discussed throughout,
although applied to immigrant bilinguals, do have implications for anyone
seeking to initiate bilingualism at home. Especially helpful are chapter
four, "Mother tongue learning processes and teaching approaches" and chapter
five, "The maintenance of the mother tongue and culture."
