Biography:

Beth (Elizabeth) Finch Hedengren, Visiting Instructor, specializes in writing pedagogy, especially issues relevant to writing across the curriculum. She has taught writing at BYU for over 35 years, instructing all levels and disciplines: freshmen to faculty; English majors to science majors. Since 1998 Beth has worked with university professors and teaching assistants, helping them learn how to more effectively teach writing in their various classes. From 1998-2008, Beth also coordinated the Writing Fellows program, training over 500 writing tutors and facilitating the tutoring of some 16,000 students. Beth is the author of A TA’s Guide to Teaching Writing in the Disciplines (2004, Bedford/St. Martins) and A Brief Guide to Writing at BYU (2009, BYU). In 2009 she received the Honor’s Professor of the Year Award.
