Biography: Prof. Boynton was born in Long Beach, California and raised in France and Germany. He served a full-time LDS mission to Italy from 1966 to 1969 following which he studied phychology and Italian at BYU. His Middlebury College MA degree included one year of study at the Università degli studi in Florence, Italy. From 1973 to 1980 he taught in the BYU department of French and Italian followed by a one-year appointment as administrative dean of the Middlebury College Italian School in Italy, based in Middlebury Vermont. From 1981 until 2004 he was assistant director, then director of the BYU Study Abroad programs and Associate Director of the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies. From 2004 until 2007 he served as president of the LDS church Italy Milan Mission. In July 2007 he returned to full-time teaching in the department of French and Italian where he serves as Italian section head and faculty advisor to the Italian club. Boynton and his wife, Vicki, are the parents of seven children and grandparents to 11 grandchildren.
