GIVING PRAYERS

Sandra: Amanda, Jane, how are you?
Jane: Hello, Sandra. We're fine, thank you.
Amanda: Fine.
Sandra: Amanda, are you ready for your baptism, Saturday?
Amanda: I think so. I'm really excited.
Sandra: Good. How about you, Jane?
Jane: Well, I'm excited too, but a little bit nervous.
Sandra: I was nervous too when I was baptized, but afterwards I felt really good inside.
Jane: Oh, thanks, Sandra.
William: Hello, Jane.
Jane: Hello.
William: Amanda, are you ready for Saturday?
Jane: We think so.
William: That's good. Sister Pelissie, how are you this morning?
Sandra: I'm fine, thanks. And how are you, Brother Johnson?
William: I'm well enough, thank you. So is your grandmother going to come...
Juan: Brother? Sister? What does that mean?
Pres. Toelupe: Good morning, brothers and sisters. Welcome to Sacrament meeting. Our High Counselor, Brother Hashimoto, is sitting here with us today. The baptism of both Jane and Amanda Taylor is on Saturday at the chapel at seven p.m. We invite you all to come. Our opening hymn is number 302, "I Know My Father Lives." Sister Hevia Junca will give the opening prayer.
Hymn:
I know my Father lives and loves me too.
The Spirit whispers this to me and
tells me it is true, And
tells me it is true.
He sent me here to earth, by faith to
live his plan.
The Spirit whispers this to me and
tells me that I can.
And tells me that I can.
Hevia: Our Heavenly Father, we thank thee for this beautiful day. We thank thee for the sacrament. We ask thee to bless us with thy Spirit. And please help us to keep thy commandments. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Pres. Toelupe: Thank you, Sister Junca. We will now sing the sacrament hymn, number 170, "God, our Father, Hear Us Pray." Then we will have the sacrament....
Pres. Toelupe: Thank you for your reverence. Our speakers today will be Brother and Sister Pelissie. Then the Richards family will sing for us. Afterwards, Brother Hashimoto, our high counselor, will speak to us.
Sandra: The Book of Mormon tells us many stories about faith. One of my favorite stories is about Lehi and his son Nephi.
Lehi was a prophet. His family lived near Jerusalem. Lehi had four sons: Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi. Lehi had a vision. God told Lehi to leave Jerusalem with his family. Lehi obeyed God. He and his family left Jerusalem and went to the desert. When they got to the desert, Lehi prayed and thanked God for helping them. Then God told Lehi that he needed the scriptures. The scriptures were written on brass plates. Lehi sent his sons to Jerusalem to get them.
Laman and Lemuel did not want to go to Jerusalem. They complained. But Nephi said, "I will do what God asks me to do. He will help me." Nephi and his brothers got the brass plates. God helped them. They brought them back to their father.
This story teaches two important lessons. The scriptures are important. We must read them. And faith is important. Lehi had faith to leave Jerusalem. Nephi had faith to get the brass plates. God helped them. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know that God and Jesus Christ live, and love us. Their promises are true. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Pierre: I would like to talk to you about Jesus Christ. A few years ago when a few friends of mine were telling me about a man...
Brother Hashimoto: ... in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Pres. Toelupe: Thank you, Brother and Sister Pelissie, the Richards family, and Brother Hashimoto. Our closing hymn is number 98, "I Need Thee Every Hour," and then Brother Raj Shah will give the closing prayer.
Juan: Brother, Sister. Oh, I see. I'm Brother Martinez.
Hymn:
I need thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord.
No tender voice like thine
Can peace afford.
I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Every hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now my Savior;
I come to thee.
Raj: Heavenly Father, we thank thee for for this nice Sacrament meeting. We thank thee for the talks. Please help us to feel thy Spirit and to follow thee. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen....
Elder Hansen: Brother Martinez.
Julio: Hi, Elders. How are you doing today?
Elder Hansen: Fine. Thanks.
Elder Anae: Hello, Brother Martinez. How are you?
Julio: I'm fine, thank you.
Elder Anae: Juan. How are you doing?
Juan: Fine. Thank you.
Julio: Juan, this is Elder Hansen. He's the new missionary and he's from Utah.
Juan: Oh, oh, pardon? Where are you from?
Elder Hansen: I'm from Utah.
Juan: Oh.
Elder Anae: He's my new companion. Juan just moved here one month ago from Venezuela. Brother Martinez is his brother and he lives with the Martinez family.
Elder Hansen: Oh, it's nice to meet you.
Juan: Nice to meet you too.
Elder Hansen: Uh, did you like the meeting?
Juan: Yes, it was good. I haven't been in this church before so it was...
Andres: Uncle Juan, come to Primary now. I'm speaking today.
