We thank thee for our Savior, Jesus Christ. We ask thee to bless Jane and Amanda with thy Spirit. We ask thee to help us all to keep thy commandments, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. |
Julio: Thank you, Brother Li. Now, the Taylor' s neighbor and friend, Sister Sara Johnson, will give a talk about baptism. Then Sister Toelupe will speak on the gift of the Holy Ghost. Sara: Today is a very special day for you, Jane and Amanda. Today you're following Jesus Christ. You will be baptized. When Jesus was 30 years old, he was also baptized. This is the story. John lived in Judea. Jesus was his cousin. He was a prophet. He taught the people and told the people to repent. He told them to be baptized. Many people believed him. One day Jesus came. John knew him. Jesus asked to be baptized. John said, "No. You have no sins." Jesus said, "I must obey Heavenly Father." So John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. The Holy Ghost came to Jesus. Heavenly Father spoke from Heaven. He said, "This is my Beloved Son." So, even Jesus was baptized. Today you will follow him. You will become members of his church... Juan: Ah, a member is someone in Christ's Church. Sara: ...follow Christ. I know that Jesus is our Savior. He showed us the way to live. He loves us. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Ning: The Holy Ghost is a special gift ...in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Julio: Thank you, Sister Toelupe. Now Brother Johnson will baptize Jane and Amanda. After that. Brother Li will confirm them members of the Church. Julio: Thank you for coming. We will close by singing hymn number 308, "Love One Another." Sister Martinet will give the closing prayer. Hymn: As I have loved you, Love one another. This new commandment: Love one another. By this shall men know Ye are my disciples, If ye have love one to another. Sylvia: Dear Heaventiy Father, we thank thee for this beautiful evening. We thank thee that Jane and Amanda were baptized. We thank thee for Jesus and we ask thee to help us to follow him. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Juan: Congratulations. I'm happy for you. Elder Hansen: So, uh, what did you think of the baptism, Juan? Juan: It was different, but I liked the feeling. Elder Hansen: Me, too. That was nice. Juan: Yes,it was. Elder Hansen: Well, we teach some lessons about baptism and Jesus Christ. Juan: Oh,you do? Elder Hansen: Yes... Jenny: Uncle Juan, come meet my friend,Amanda! Juan: Oh, excuse me. Uh, see you later. Elder Hansen: Yeah, yeah, see you later. |
