ASKING QUESTIONS

Julio: Hello. Brother Park.
Julio: How are you doing this morning?
Katie: Fine, thanks, and you?
Julio: Just fine. Can you introduce me to your guests?
Katie: Yes. These are my neighbors, Bob and Alexandra Ferry. This is Brother Martinet. He teaches the Gospel Essentials class.
Julio: It's very nice to meet you both.
Alexandra: It's nice to meet you, too.
Julio: Please come in. Katie, would you please give the closing prayer?
Katie: Yes, I'd be happy to.
Julio: Thank you. Hello, Elder. Elder Hansen, would you please offer the opening prayer for us?
Elder Hansen: Of course.
Julio: Thank you.
Elder Hansen: Juan, glad you could make it.
Juan: Thank you...
Julio: Brothers and Sisters, welcome to our Gospel Essentials class....
Juan: When will we talk about his church?
Julio: ...We're happy to see you. We have some new people here today. Elders, would you introduce your guests?
Elder Anae: This is Bob and Alexandra Ferry. They are friends and neighbors of Katie Dawson.
Julio: It's nice to have you here with us. Congratulations again to Jane Taylor. Jane and her daughter were baptized last night. They are the newest members of our branch. And I have a special guest today. Juan, would you introduce yourself?
Juan: Hi. Uh, my name is Juan Martinez. I am Julio's brother.
Julio: Thank you. I am very glad to have you all with us today. Before we begin, Elder Hansen will say the prayer.
Elder Hansen: Heavenly Father, we thank thee for this day. We thank thee for Sunday School and for Brother Martinez. Please help us to learn from his lesson. Please bless the prophet and all the General Authorities. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Julio: Thank you, Elder Hansen. Okay, what did we talk about last week?
Anna: Baptism.
Julio: That's right. When we are baptized, what do we promise?..... Steve?
Steve: To follow Jesus Christ, to remember him, and to obey his commandments.
Julio: That's a good answer. Today we'll talk about the Holy Ghost... What does the Holy Ghost do for us?
Jane: He helps us choose the right.
Julio: That's a good answer.
Anna: He can tell us that The Book of Mormon is true.
Julio: Yes. The last prophet in The Book of Mormon, Moroni, made a promise. Moroni said that if we ask God in faith he will tell us that The Book of Mormon is true. He told us to read the book. Then he said to pray. He told us to ask God with faith. He said we can know all things by the power of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost answers each of us in different ways. Sometimes we have a good feeling inside. Sometimes he gives us thoughts in our minds, and sometimes he gives us other feelings. Two years ago the missionaries taught my family about the gospel.
They asked us to read and pray about The Book of Mormon. So, we read it together. Then, we prayed about it. The Holy Ghost told us it was true. We felt peace in our hearts. The Holy Ghost can answer questions about other things, too. The Holy Ghost helps us know that Joseph Smith is a prophet, and that the Gospel is true. He can help us make many important decisions.
Now, let's talk about the gift of the Holy Ghost. We receive it when we are confirmed, after baptism. Who can explain the gift of the Holy Ghost? Jane, can you explain it?
Jane: Well, I'11 try. Heavenly Father promises us that the Holy Ghost will be our companion. But, we must try to be obedient. The Holy Ghost can help us all our lives.
Julio: Yes, the Holy Ghost can help us as we try to keep the commandments. I am glad the Holy Ghost helps us know the truth. He can help all of us know the truth. The Gospel is true. Jesus is our Savior. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Next week's lesson will be on "Enduring to the End." Katie Dawson will give the closing prayer.
Katie: Our Heavenly Father, we thank thee for this class and for the lesson Brother Martinez taught us. We thank thee for the Holy Ghost. Bless us to listen to him. Please help us love others. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.... Brother Martinez, that was a good lesson.
Bob: Yes,it was.
Alexandra: Thank you. I learned a lot.
Julio: Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Come again.
Bob: We will.
Alexandra: Bye.
Julio: Good-bye.
Elder Hansen: Hello, again.
Juan: Hi, Elder Hansen. How are you?
Elder Hansen: Fine, thank you. How are you?
Juan: Fine, thanks.
Elder Hansen: So, how did you like the lesson?
Juan: It was good. I have some questions.
Elder Hansen: You do?
Juan: Yes, can you answer them?
Elder Hansen: Uh, sure. We would like to meet with you and discuss your questions.
Elder Anae: Would you like to listen to the discussions about the Church?
Juan: Sure. When can we start?
Elder Hansen:... Uh, Tuesday or Wednesday?
