David Paxman specializes in late seventeenth- and eighteenth-century British literature, including prose fiction, intellectual history, poetry, and regional literary culture.
His current research interests include the family in the novel and the application of cognitive science to literary study. He has published in Modern Philology, Philological Quarterly, Eighteenth-Century Studies, Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture, Journal of the History of Ideas, and Restoration.
He was awarded the College of Humanities Barker Lectureship in 1997 and the university Alcuin Fellowship in 1999.
