RUSSIAN MAINTENANCE PROGRAM AVAILABLE

The Russian section and the Center for Instructional Design has released the first module for the Extending Your Russian (EYR) program. The program is currently available on a CD but will soon become available online for downloading. If you would like a copy of the CD, email Dr. Hart (david_hart@byu.edu) or stop by the Department office (3112C JFSB) for a free copy (for BYU students).

A fledgling web site to support Russian language maintenance after graduation has also been launched. It will be the site from which the EYR modules can be downloaded. It is: http://eyr.byu.edu.

Our Goal for You

Facilitate the acquisition and improvement of Russian language skills in all areas of competency: speaking, reading, writing and aural comprehension, including an understanding of the structure and history of the Russian language.

Maintain commitment to the use of Russian as the language of instruction in core subjects. Develop in students an appreciation of the highest attainments of Russian culture, particularly Russian literature. Through literature students penetrate deeply into the profound thought and ideals of the Russian people and fully engage in the liberal arts.

Encourage independent learning and critical thinking. Help students to develop strategies and techniques that will enable them to become lifelong learners.
