Germanic and Romance Languages

This is a list of languages that CANNOT be used to satisfy the Linguistics BA and Linguistics MA non-Germanic and non-Romance language requirement for the majors.

Germanic Languages

Afrikaans
Danish
Dutch
English
Faroese
Flemish
Frisian
German
Gothic
Icelandic
Norn
Norwegian
Scots
Swedish
Swiss German
Wymysojer
Yiddish
Yola

Romance Languages

Catalan
French
Galician
Italian
Latin
Occitan
Portuguese
Provençal
Rhaeto-Romance
Romanian
Romansch
Sardinian
Spanish

These languages and any other langauge that belongs to the Indo-European families of Germanic or Romance (Italic) CANNOT be used to satisfy this requirement for the major.

However, these languages can be a language minor, which can satisfy the minor requirement for the Linguistics BA major.
