Upcoming Mini-course and Lecture

The mini-course will be held nightly on these dates from 5:10-7:30 PM.  Dr. Dixon will also be presenting the lecture, "Machado de Assis' Narrators: Beyond the Problem of Reliability" on Thursday, November 1st at 11:00 AM in 3104 JKB.  Students interested in the mini-course may register using a permission-to-add code obtained in 3190 JFSB.  The mini-course will be held in English, and corresponding readings will be English translations.

Paul Dixon received his BA from BYU and his graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina.  He has taught Portuguese, Spanish and Latin American Literature at Purdue for 31 years.  Although he has published on a wide array of topics, as his career has developed he has focused more and more on the Brazilian writer, Machado de Assis.   He now has four books either partly or entirely on Machado.  The latest, O chocalho de Brás Cubas, was published by the University of São Paulo Press and Nankin Editorial in 2009.  He is frequently invited to Brazilian universities to discuss his perspective on Machado.
