Sep 23, 2010

While New York will be the focus, the group will take side trips to Washington, D.C., and Boston, and to LDS Church history sites in upstate New York. Students will visit such places as Hill Cumorah, the Sacred Grove, Niagara Falls, Walden Pond, Emily Dickinson's home, the Library of Congress, Ford's Theatre, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian.

Courses will include English 336: The American Novel, English 366: Studies in Poetry, English 480: Career Exploration. It is recommended that students take English 293: American Literary History, prior to participating in the summer study program. All participants are required to register for IAS 201, a one-credit, pre-departure preparation course held Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. during the second block of winter semester 2011.

The program will cost approximately $4,400-4,800, including LDS undergraduate tuition. Does not include airfare, personal expenses, or meals on excursions.
