BYU philosophy prof finds what U2 is looking for

A Brigham Young University philosophy professor, after publishing several books on the work of traditional philosophers like Heidegger, has released a new volume that instead analyzes the philosophical implications of the lyrics of rock's U2.

"I was cruising across Nevada, listening to 'Last Night on Earth' from the Pop album, and it struck me how incredibly Nietzschean one of the songs was. I thought, 'Wow, I could really use this in my lectures,'" remembers Mark Wrathall, who earned his doctorate in philosophy from UC Berkeley before joining the BYU faculty. He earlier graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law while concurrently earning a master's in philosophy at Boston College.
