F, W, Sp, Su Basic understanding of linguistic systems. Phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.

F, W, Sp, Su Prerequisite: Program coordinator's consent. On-the-job experience and education related to linguistics.

F, W Prerequisite: Ling 330. General inventory of speech sounds possible in language, from both an acoustic and articulatory point of view.

F, W Prerequisite: ELang 223 or Ling 330. Theoretical comparison and contrast of different sentence types. Methods of argument to develop and critique generative theories of lexical categories, grammatical roles, and syntactic structure.

W, Su Prerequisite: Ling 330 or ELang 223. Theory and method of language change via comparison of daughter languages and reconstruction of their ancestral language: phonological, morphological, semantic, and lexical.

F, W Prerequisite: Ling 330. Ling 420, 427, 430, 450. Reading and discussing major issues in linguistics, writing a senior paper, and reviewing content of core courses.

LING 496R : Academic Internship: TESOL.

F, W, Sp, Su Prerequisite: ELang 223, Ling 441, 473; Ling 477 or concurrent enrollment. Individualized work or volunteer experience in a domestic or international setting. International internships must be coordinated through International Study Programs. All internships require prior departmental approval.
