Sophie: A Digital Library and Resource Center for Early German-Speaking Women's Works 1740-1923, is an open-ended, online digital repository available to scholars, teachers, and students. It allows students to learn how to research in a way that has an immediate and active contribution to the historical conversation. They are opening up a new part of literature. Through much of time works by women are almost non-existent and those that are written are rarely published. Now those works are being published and translated into other languages making them much more accessible to the average reader. This project is trying to inspire a new discussion in history, the voices of those never heard before are now speaking to us and allowing us a view into the lives they lead and the societies in which they lived.
