When Americans Swallow Their Ts

David Eddington has recently published research (with M. Taylor of New York U.) documenting how often Americans use glottal stops instead of clear /t/ sounds at the ends of words (e.g. "nigh' off" instead of "night off"). Younger female speakers are most likely to use glottal stops, hinting that this is a general language change in progress.
