Douglas S. Mehr Richard James Originator |
Apple Computer® |
This project was originally conceived by Richard James and the WWW pages developed by Douglas S. Mehr on some slick PowerMac® 7100s. All flags were drawn using Aldus Superpaint®. If any of the flags are incorrect please let Douglas know about it and he will change them. All text colors and links were changed according to the colors of the respective country's flag. The names and lines were made with Adobe Photoshop® to achieve smooth gradients. The maps were all redone using a combination of GrayView®, Aldus Superpaint®, and/or Adobe Photoshop®. Many kudos are offered to the folks at Apple® for making all of this so easy and Netscape® for such an awesome WWW browser. The currency found on the pages were scanned from Douglas' extensive collection. The notes encountered are generally not the current issues for these countries. This was done for two reasons: 1) He doesn't have any of the current issues and 2) The notes are obsolete and have little numismatic value so there is a lesser problem with counterfeiting.
This project consumed many, many hours of time and effort so please use it often and enjoy!

On April 4, 1995 we started the What's New? part of this project.
On April 4, 1995 we took care of a bunch of small problems with the Spanish text.
On April 4, 1995 we put in dummy images so the client (a.k.a. you) will know that all images loaded properly.
On April 5, 1995 we took the flags off the first page so it downloads much faster. It took way too long to download over 20 images for one page.
On April 5, 1995 we made the construction icon much smaller so the table on the front page looks better.
On April 7, 1995 we moved the construction icons on the front page table into the same cell as the country name. This is to give the table a better look.
On April 7, 1995 the Cuban page was finished.
On April 8, 1995 all maps were finished.
On April 8, 1995 the Panamanian page was completed.
On April 10, 1995 the calendar was added.
On April 10, 1995 we changed the U.S. notes to grayscale to comply with United States law.
On April 12, 1995 we added a non-graphical page for those with non-graphics-supported browsers so they can access the countries also. In addition, we added the "alt" parameter to all the graphics for the same people.
On April 13, 1995 we made an imagemap on the front page.
On April 13, 1995 we added the "OOPS!" page if you don't click on a country or name in the imagemap and the "scale page" for the box in the imagemap.
On April 13, 1995 we were sad to have had to change all the currency to black and white and 75 percent of original size so as to comply with federal counterfeiting laws. We had the choice of making the currency either less than 75 percent or more than 150 percent of the original size. We chose 75 percent so we wouldn't lose resolution and the files would be smaller so downloading the pages would be faster for the client (you).
On April 14, 1995 we added Apple Computer® to our credits because this could not have been possible (and looked so good) without their awesome machines.
On April 15, 1995 we finished the Brazilian page.
On April 18, 1995 we finished the Ecuatorian page.
On April 18, 1995 we finished the Colombian page.
On April 18, 1995 we changed the vlink text color so it's easier to see on the Mundo 21 pages.
On April 21, 1995 we added the Spanish money.
