Resources To Search
The purpose of this page is to help teachers and students find resources on the Internet without spending
hours browsing around without success. These pages are organized around four main ideas for using the Internet in the classroom.
- The Internet is a quick source for classroom materials (videos, audio cassettes,
CDs and CD-ROMs, Photos, audio clips, books, computer software)
- The Internet is a good resource for students to research cultures and countries. The Internet abounds with free information about everything from Latin love songs to weather in Oaxaca. The
information is often more specialized and current than what you would find in most encyclopedias and school libraries. This lets students make more personal
connections to what they are researching. I could pursue my interest in painting, for example, by researching painters and artists from Chile or Spain.
- The Internet has text-like information about the Spanish Language itself. It offers things like lists of
verb conjugations or vocabulary, interactive sites where students can input a word and get back a definition or conjugation, and a few sites offer
grammatical explanations. These can be used as self-help sources for students or can even be downloaded and distributed when the sites don't have copyright
restrictions.
- Finally, the Internet is a forum for teachers to talk and share ideas and concerns about teaching. This can
be a source for whatever you want to make of it. You might decide to find a class in Spain that would like some American pen pals. Maybe you'd rather have
some lesson plan ideas for teaching -AR verbs.
