Teaching Experience

I love teaching essays because they help us attend to the wonders of the world, make connections, and discover meaning in humble ways.

Research

I study widely and wildly everything that catches my interest and I try to integrate what I learn into my essay writing.

Selected Publications

  • Disparates: Essays (Nebraska 2020)
  • Sublime Physick: Essays (Nebraska 2016)
  • After Montaigne: Contemporary Essayists Cover the Essays (ed. w David Lazar, Georgia 2015)
  • Selected Poems of Eduardo Milán (trans. w Steven J Stewart, Shearsman 2012)
  • Quotidiana: Essays (Nebraska 2010)

Service

At BYU I’ve worked largely within creative writing, hoping to be part of a generous and generative literary community: organizing the weekly reading series, facilitating Inscape, the student-run literary magazine, coordinating the MFA program and the introduction to creative writing class.
