Teaching students at Notre Dame, Indiana University-South Bend, Holy Cross College, Cal Poly, and now BYU, I have relished the opportunity to create space where people from disparate disciplines with different backgrounds, identities, and abilities can gather to explore and exchange ideas. In the Research & Writing Center, I work with a talented team of students and administrators who are focused on curating such a space for students to collaborate with peers on their writing projects. As a writing center practitioner, my research centers on collaborative learning and effective peer-to-peer writing support. As a scholar, I am interested in the way writing shapes reality. My past work has concentrated on American literature and culture, particularly the religious and secular metanarratives of the nineteenth century. In my commitment to helping students pursue excellence in their writing, I am enthusiastic about working with various campus partners to ensure students from across the university have access to writing support and resources.Teaching Experience
