Philosophy Closing Social 2019

BYU’s Philosophy department celebrated their three Yarn winners as well as those graduating at their closing social.

PROVO, Utah (April 18, 2019)—The philosophy department celebrated their last philosophy social over steaming hot pizza and bubbly root beer at the Brick Oven. The social atmosphere was one of friends getting together again as they honored their three Yarn winners as well as those graduating at the end of the semester.

The Yarn award began with David H. Yarn, Jr., a professor at BYU who initiated the philosophy program that continues to this day. In recognition of Dr. Yarn’s dedicated service, the Department of Philosophy offers the David H. Yarn Scholarship to three students. The 2019 Yarn contest winners are: Brien Brockbank in first place, Ryan Meservey in second, and Prescott Jackson in third.
