PROVO, Utah (May 15, 2020)—Dean of the College of Humanities, J. Scott Miller, has reappointed Professor Lance Larson (English) as chair of the BYU English department. Larsen has been serving as department chair since May 2017 and will now serve another term in this position.
“Lance guides the English department with poetic sensibility, shepherding the largest department at BYU with equanimity and grace. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him,” remarked Dean Scott Miller.
Larsen has enjoyed teaching creative writing, poetry, American literature, and Shakespeare at BYU since 1993. Currently, Larsen has five collections of poetry published, the most recent being What the Body Knows (2018). Along with his many awards and grants, he served as Utah’s poet laureate from 2012-2017.
